NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Secretary of State Tre Hargett, alongside Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally and Representative Lowell Russell, presented Loudon County High School the Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award. The award recognizes the school’s outstanding achievement in registering 136 student voters, 100 percent of the eligible student body.
“For Loudon High to register 136 of their fellow students is an impressive achievement,” said Secretary Hargett. “I’m very proud to see their success for the second year in a row, and it clearly shows the future of Tennessee is very bright.”
The Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award represents the highest distinction in Tennessee’s student voter registration initiative, honoring schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to civic duty. Student ambassadors Marelly Hernandez and Karstyn Wallace were commended by Secretary Hargett for their leadership and dedication to the effort. Principal Mr. Scott Mackintosh accepted the award on behalf of the school.
Lt. Governor McNally and Representative Russell are great proponents of encouraging civic engagement across their districts, as well as across the state. Loudon County Administrator of Elections Susan Harrison has also provided support throughout the registration initiative.
The Anne Dallas Dudley Awards program is open to Tennessee public, charter, private and homeschool associations. It is named for Anne Dallas Dudley, who helped lead the successful effort to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, granting women the right to vote. Tennessee became the 36th and final state to ratify the amendment on Aug. 18, 1920.
