NASHVILLE, Tenn. —Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Representative John Crawford presented the Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award to Sullivan East High School for registering 100 percent of their eligible students to vote.
“Students and Sullivan County leaders who helped lead these voter registration efforts showed a strong commitment to civic responsibility,” said Secretary Hargett. “Their work is helping build a new generation of informed and engaged Tennessee voters.”
Principal Andy Hare accepted the commemorative plaque on behalf of the school. Student ambassadors Carlos David Cruz Contreras and Vuong Hoang Kim Ngo were recognized for registering 140 fellow students. Sullivan East previously received the Silver Level Award in 2024 and 2025 before achieving the gold award this year.
The program has received support from Representative Crawford, Senator Bobby Harshbarger, Representative Bud Hulsey, Representative Timothy Hill, and Sullivan County AoE Jason Booher.
The Anne Dallas Dudley Awards are open to all Tennessee public, charter/private school, and home school associations. This award is named in honor of renowned Tennessee suffragist Anne Dallas Dudley, who helped lead the successful effort to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. On Aug. 18, 1920, Tennessee became the 36th and final state needed to give women the right to vote.
