NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Representative John Crawford presented the Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award to Tennessee High School in Bristol for registering 100 percent of their eligible students to vote.

“Tennessee High School students and local leaders demonstrated an impressive commitment to civic engagement through their voter registration efforts,” said Secretary Hargett. “Their work is helping ensure the next generation of Tennessee voters is informed, involved, and ready to participate in our elections.”

Government teacher Andrew Cross accepted the plaque on behalf of the school. Student ambassadors Cooper Booher, Skyler Hoffman, and Abbigail Canter were recognized for registering 136 students. The program has received support from Senator Bobby Harshbarger, Representative John Crawford, Representative Bud Hulsey, Representative Timothy Hill, and Sullivan County AoE Jason Booher.

The Anne Dallas Dudley Awards are open to all Tennessee public, charter/private school, and home school associations. This award is named in honor of renowned Tennessee suffragist Anne Dallas Dudley, who helped lead the successful effort to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. On Aug. 18, 1920, Tennessee became the 36th and final state needed to give women the right to vote.
