NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the second consecutive year, and third time overall, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy students and staff were presented the prestigious Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award. Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Senator Mark Pody personally made the presentation. Student ambassadors Clarie Pollard and Katie Moore were individually recognized for their hard work, registering 100 percent of the 16 eligible students to vote.
“It was my pleasure to present the award to Mt. Juliet Christian Academy students, and it’s clear they understand the power they hold in being a registered voter,” said Secretary Hargett. “We appreciate these students, the faculty, and staff at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy, and the Wilson County Election Commission for their continued partnership in increasing voter registration within their communities.”
These awards are also made possible by the important work of Superintendent Kathy Posey, Upper School Principal Mr. Matt Bradshaw, History Teacher and Davidson County Election Commissioner, Mr. Dan Davis, and Wilson County Administrator of Elections Tammy Smith, who supported the successful drive. Sen. Pody, Representative Clark Boyd, and Representative Susan Lynn all play integral roles in encouraging civic participation in their districts as well.
The Anne Dallas Dudley Awards are open to all Tennessee public, charter/private school, and home school associations. This award is named in honor of renowned Tennessee suffragist Anne Dallas Dudley, who helped lead the successful effort to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. On Aug. 18, 1920, Tennessee became the 36th and final state needed to give women the right to vote.
