NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett presented a $75,000 construction grant to the Middleton Community Library on Thursday to support the second phase of its expansion, which will enhance the children’s collection, programming, and services.

“The Middleton community continues to impress me with their support of their local library, and this grant will further support the growing number of patrons in the area,” said Secretary Hargett. “I want to thank the state and local leaders for their dedication to supporting the library. We all know that strong libraries are essential to strong communities.”

Middleton’s state legislators were strong advocates of the additional funding used to match the local funding provided by the City of Middleton.

“Libraries play a vital role in strengthening rural communities by providing access to educational resources, technology and lifelong learning opportunities. This investment in the Middleton Community Library will help ensure families in Hardeman County continue to have a welcoming place to learn, grow and connect,” said Sen. Page Walley (Savannah).

"Libraries serve as places where Tennesseans of all ages can learn, grow and gain new skills through literature and other essential programs. This investment will provide more opportunities for Hardeman County families to enjoy everything the Middleton Community Library has to offer,” said Rep. Ron Gant (Piperton).

Secretary Hargett was pleased to be joined by Middleton Mayor Evan Mott and Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse, along with key Middleton Community Library personnel.
