NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Secretary of State Tre Hargett today announced Ben Hill as the new Director of Communications for the Secretary of State's office. Hill joins Secretary Hargett’s office after five years serving as anchor of Nashville's #1 morning news program, NewsChannel 5 This Morning, where Hill was honored with three 'Emmy' awards for his work.

Prior to his time in Nashville, Hill spent nearly 15 years serving as a television journalist, covering various news events and presidential elections and had the honor of interviewing President Donald J. Trump and various influential politicians.

“I am looking forward to working alongside Ben as he supports the mission of our office with his extensive media experience and expertise. Ben’s communication skills and strategic thinking will be critical to our efforts to serve and communicate both within and outside of our great state," said Secretary Hargett.

As Director of Communications, Hill will lead communications efforts, serve as Secretary Hargett's and the department’s primary spokesperson, and help execute strategies for Tennesseans to be better aware of the services offered by the Department of State.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to serve on Secretary Hargett’s team, as he is someone I greatly admire, and I respect the incredible team he's built,” said Hill. “This is an exciting new challenge and opportunity for my family and me. We feel very blessed." 

Hill spent time in television broadcasting serving roles in Kentucky, Texas, South Carolina and Indiana, anchoring and reporting. Hill and his family reside in Nashville.
