NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Secretary of State Tre Hargett has presented the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Award to Senator Todd Gardenhire (R- Chattanooga) of Tennessee District 10. The Medallion Award recognizes Senator Gardenhire’s long-standing work to ensure voter integrity and increase voter participation. Senator Gardenhire passed
significant legislation in 2025 that took an important step forward in streamlining the Tennessee voter registration process for Tennesseans. His work to ensure all sides were heard as well as protect the integrity of Tennessee’s election system was vital.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from Secretary Hargett and the National Association of Secretaries of State,” said Senator Gardenhire. “Protecting the integrity of our elections while making it easier for eligible Tennesseans to participate in the democratic process is critically important. I appreciate the opportunity to work alongside Secretary Hargett and my colleagues in
the General Assembly to ensure Tennessee continues to have secure, accessible and trusted elections.”
“It is my honor to give this prestigious award to Senator Gardenhire,” said Secretary Hargett. “I am grateful for his capable leadership shepherding this legislation through the Senate. I know encouraging voter participation and protecting the integrity of Tennessee’s elections is a top priority for him, and that’s something all Tennesseans can appreciate.”
Secretaries of State may present the award to honor individuals in their state who promote the goals of NASS in one or more of four areas: elections, civic education, service to state government or a commitment of giving. Senator Gardenhire, who represents District 10, was first elected in 2013. District 10 includes Marion, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, and Hamilton counties.
