NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Secretary of State Tre Hargett has presented the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Award to Representative Bud Hulsey (R-Kingsport) of Sullivan County. The Medallion Award is an opportunity for a Secretary of State to recognize Representative Hulsey’s long-standing work to increase voter participation as well as ensure voter integrity.

“It is an honor to bestow this prestigious award to Representative Hulsey,” said Secretary Hargett. “I am grateful for his work to encourage voter participation as well as protect the integrity of Tennessee’s elections.” Secretaries of State may present the award to honor individuals in their state who promote the goals of NASS in one or more of four areas: elections, civic education, service to state government or a commitment of giving.

"Tennessee stands apart because of the men and women who embody the Volunteer Spirit and work tirelessly to strengthen their local communities. It's a great honor to receive this award, and I remain committed to advancing limited government, fiscal responsibility, and the common-sense values that have long defined our state. I'm grateful to Secretary Hargett for his partnership and leadership in helping make Tennessee the best place to live, work and raise a family," said Representative Hulsey.

Hulsey, who represents the 2nd district, is in his sixth term. Representative Hulsey passed legislation in 2025 that took a significant step forward in streamlining the Tennessee election process. The legislation was complex but extremely important to citizens across the State of Tennessee.
