NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The prestigious Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award was presented to Compass-Midtown High School once again in recognition of helping to register 100 percent of their 52 eligible students to vote. Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett presented the award to school leadership and student ambassadors C.J. Alshuailat and Brandon Arevalo.

Secretary Hargett gave special thanks to Social Studies Teacher Mr. Scott Stephens, Shelby County Election Commissioner Patricia Possel, and Shelby County Administrator of Elections Linda Phillips for her support of voter registration efforts.

“Compass-Midtown continues its trend of understanding the importance of registering to vote in the great state of Tennessee,” said Secretary Hargett. “Ultimately, the students and staff exemplify what the Anne Dallas Dudley Award represents, which is that leadership and teamwork can make meaningful impacts in encouraging civic participation.”

Compass-Midtown is a three-time Anne Dallas Dudley Award winner, taking Gold in 2025 and 2026, and silver in 2024.

The Anne Dallas Dudley Awards are open to all Tennessee public, charter/private school, and home school associations. This award is named in honor of renowned Tennessee suffragist Anne Dallas Dudley, who helped lead the successful effort to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. On Aug. 18, 1920, Tennessee became the 36th and final state needed to give women the right to vote.
