Due to special circumstances brought by Covid-19, this year’s Institute will be virtual! The application is attached and the deadline is September 18.
The main workshop series will be held online on October 21-23. Attendees must have access to a computer with internet, audio, and webcam capabilities to attend online meetings. Headsets (if available) and course materials will be mailed to all participants. Please put your mailing address where you can most easily receive packages on the application form! Please let us know if technology capabilities will prevent you from attending or if you feel uncomfortable advancing in the Institute virtually.
A second (and optional) session will be an in-person, one-day event held in May (exact date to be announced) in Nashville at the brand new TSLA building. This session will include a tour of the building, graduation ceremony, and a luncheon with your Archives Institute peers.
If you are a first-time applicant or were previously unsuccessful in your application, please attach a brief (no more than one typed page) statement explaining why you wish to attend the Institute. You must be an employee of or volunteer with an organization that holds archival materials. A letter of recommendation from the organization’s director is required for first-time applicants. [Second- and third-year attendees may disregard the statement requirement.]
Please DO NOT submit your registration fee with your application. Wait until after you have received confirmation of your acceptance to the Archives Institute!
*While the Institute is intended primarily for county and municipal archivists and records managers, historians, genealogists, county officials, and other individuals who work with historical records are also invited to participate.
