Cemetery and Funeral Home Records @ the Tennessee State Library and Archives

Resource Guide #12

The Tennessee State Library and Archives has cemetery and funeral home records available in a number of formats that are useful for genealogical and other research purposes. The materials cited in this brochure are arranged by the area within the Library and Archives where they can be accessed.

Sometimes these records include more information than is found in death records and obituaries, and they can often be used for time periods when a death was not registered with the state. Information in the records varies from business to business. Some of the microfilmed materials are indexed and some are not. The Library and Archives also has an online guide to funeral home records at the Tennessee State Library and Archives: Books and Manuscripts.
