The Library Broadside Collection, 1814-2010, is centered on items collected by the Tennessee State Library and Archives library staff and primarily focuses on historical broadsides. While the majority of broadsides were published in Tennessee for Tennesseans, other states and countries are represented: Alabama, Arkansas, California, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The out-of-state broadsides are still connected to Tennessee or have a Tennessee kinship. For example, one (Box 1, f. 9) from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in New Market, Alabama, announces the Rev. T. S. Buchanan of Howell, Tennessee, as the speaker on July 6, 1884. Another example can be seen in the photogravure posters from England, France, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales (Box 31). They were sent to the Tennessee State Librarian by the Travel Association of the United Kingdom and Great Britain “in the hope that they may be found suitable for exhibition in your library.” The Library Broadside Collection was transferred to the archives section from the library section of the Tennessee State Library and Archives on September 26, 2007.
