World War II – Geared Towards Upper-Elementary School. High School teachers consult the preview lesson plan (see link above) prior to booking trunk.

During World War II, more than 300,000 men and women from Tennessee served in the armed forces. In addition to the support provided by Tennessee to our nation’s armed forces, the Volunteer State also lived up to its name in its action on the Homefront.   From scrap drives and war bonds to rationing and victory gardens, Tennesseans sacrificed, saved, and served. The activities in this trunk will walk participants through daily life on the Homefront during WWII, in the hopes of providing them with varying perspectives, as well as a greater understanding of the sacrifices made by the greatest generation.

The fee for each trunk is $25.00. School districts may pay this $25.00 fee by check. An invoice will be issued to the contact name and school listed on the reservation. The invoice should be paid before the trunk is shipped and within 30 days of receipt.

Included in this trunk:

  • TSLA Primary Sources
  • Teacher’s Guide
  • Student Worksheets for Copies
  • Lily’s Victory Garden by Helen Wilbur
  • Ration Books
