The next Tennessee Archives Institute will be held at the Tennessee State Library & Archives April 18-19, 2024.
The 2024 Institute is open to archivists, librarians, and records custodians. This one-and-a-half-day workshop developed around a series of sessions on archival principles and techniques is designed to provide basic-to-intermediate training on archives management, digitization planning and implementation, preservation, public records laws, and peer networking.
This year's Institute will incorporate an overall theme of Advocacy. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on practice, and guest speakers, participants will leave the Institute with tools, resources and their own three minute elevator pitch to advocate for the needs of their archives and institutions.
Participants who complete the Institute for three consecutive years receive certification as an Archives Manager from the Tennessee Secretary of State.
An application process is required for attendance!
Enrollment is competitive and limited. First-time attendees must submit the application, a brief statement of interest for participating in the Institute, and a letter of recommendation.
Returning participants need only submit the application form.
*All applicants must be an employee or volunteer with an organization that holds archival materials.
Please submit your 2024 Archives Institute application and all supplemental items to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 1, 2024.
