What is a solicitation?
"Solicit" or "solicitation" means any oral or written request, however, communicated, whether directly or indirectly, for a contribution. See T.C.A. §48-101-501(11).
Is the deadline for online voter registration the same as the deadline for registering by other means?
Yes. Normally, you must register at least 30 days before Election Day. You can check upcoming deadlines on the election calendar.
How can I check the status of a charity?
The Tennessee Secretary of State offers an online search of charities. Please note, if you do not locate the organization, please consider the following:

The internet-based READS service is hosted by the OverDrive® digital content platform. OverDrive® provides a user-friendly interface and an app, Libby, that features private user accounts, several browsing and searching methods for users, a holds feature, email availability notification, and a help feature. The READS Libby app also has filtering features that allow parents or guardians to work with their children to filter titles by age category. The vendor for READS is determined every five years through a Request for Proposal (RFP) that is conducted by Library & Archives.
Can I complete the online voter registration application on an iPad, tablet or smartphone?
Yes. The system is optimized to work on mobile devices.
What is a contribution?
“Contributions" means the promise or grant of any money or property of any kind or value, including the payment or promise to pay in consideration of a sale, performance or show of any kind which is advertised or offered in conjunction with the name of any charity. “Contribution” does not include bona fide fees, dues or assessments paid by members; provided, that membership is not conferred solely as consideration for making a contribution in response to a solicitation. How do I apply to vote absentee as a Military or Overseas voter under T.C.A. § 2-6-502
Military personnel, their family members and overseas voters (UOCAVA voters) may receive their absentee ballot via e-mail or by-mail upon request. UOCAVA voters may track when the ballot was received by their local county election commission office. The voted ballot must be received by the local county election commission office by the close of polls on election day to be counted. How much does it cost to renew a Charity's Registration?
Renewal Filing fees are based the gross revenue for the filing period. Late fees are assessed per month.

* Based on answers on the renewal form, an organization may qualify for an exemption because they received less than $50,000 in gross contributions from the public. Organizations that qualify for this exemption will not be charged a filing fee for the filing period.
